Three Down; One Ramone Left.

After a five year long battle with prostate cancer, Johnny Ramone (aka John Cummings) passed away yesterday, he was 55 .

Johnny was one of the founding members of The Ramones; a band that stripped rock and roll down to its bare essentials and played with a joy that was one part testosterone fueled and one part airplane glue.

Joey Ramone (Jeff Hyman) died in 2001 also after a cancer battle, and Dee Dee Ramone (Douglas Colvin) passed in 2002 of a drug overdose leaving only Tommy Ramone (Tommy Erdelyi) as the only original member of the band left.

This really breaks my heart. Many was the lost night that I'd spent at the old "Emerald City" in Cherry Hill, New Jersey in the early 1980's watching the Ramones play live. My best friend, Dave and I, screaming out the inane lyrics of "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker" until our voices cracked...man, those good old days are really dead and gone.

RIP, Johnny --- Rock and Roll Never Forgets!
