Playing Hooky

Time for a mental health day.

Ah, the unprecedented joy of 'calling out'; you know, "Hi this is Pax (cough-cough), I'm calling out sick today."

I mean why waste sick days?
Yeah, so it's Monday and a quick look at the morning talk shows proves that the media is up to it's old tricks. The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet opened up their empty headed chat show with .... wait for it .... The John Edwards Affair (sex scandal is what host, Mike Jerrick referred to it as) ; Meanwhile, on CBS, The Morning Show spent a few minutes grieving the late Isaac Hayes and then moved on to a five minute long report on former reality show stars; and the Today Show was busy showing us how to cook noodles, live from the Olympics in China... nary a word on the Russia / Georgia conflict.

And we wonder why Americans are so ill informed concerning world affairs.
Oh, and about the Olympics.

Pardon me if I'm less than excited about this event. It's just that I can't wrap my head around buying into the glitz and glam of these games that are being hosted by a country that arrests and kills monks and nuns, or rounds up citizens for "patriotic education" ... and does anyone recall the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989?

Here's a picture you probably never saw; bodies of dead students that were dumped at a hospital in Beijing after the demonstration:

Nope, sorry, screw the Olympics.
