If you live in the Delaware Valley, you might have heard about that tanker truck that crashed on route 70 in Medford, New Jersey, this morning spilling a few thousand gallons of gasoline as well as effectively closing down the highway causing local officials to declare a limited state of emergency...
Well this whole incident occurred about a quarter of a mile from my front door.
Our electricity was cut off for most of the morning so that downed power lines would not ignite the spilled fuel. Hazmat teams, local emergency squads and news crews are all over the place.
Word is that this section of 70 will be closed until sometime tomorrow afternoon.
Luckily, no one was hurt, the truck driver (whose vehicle was overturned in a ditch after taking down three power line poles), managed to walk away with only a few scratches.
We are fine, though there is a distinct chemical odor outside, of course we have been assured that it's nothing to worry about.
